Abstract

This project proposes an analysis of the social, cultural, and political organization of the Judean exilic community during the 6th and 5th centuries BCE. This research selected Isaiah's chapters 43 and 44 to analyze both as possible sources for understanding internal conflicts and the socio-political aspirations of the community that produced them. Based on this section of the Second Isaiah, a cultural product of a generation of Judeans already born in Mesopotamia, this research proposes an analysis focused on studies on cultural memory and trauma. Given the deportations suffered by the Judean community in the early sixth century BCE, we seek to understand how the narratives about these traumatic events were transmitted and appropriated by the next generation - to which the Second Isaiah directs itself -, and how the prophetic narrative itself had an impact on the organization of the Judean society in the transition from the 6th to the 5th centuries BCE.
