Abstract

This is a Scientific Initiation project linked to the research project "Pedagogical Practices and Development of Mediated Memory", developed by the advisor. These researches aim to produce knowledge about the development of the psychic function of mediated memory, based on historical-cultural theory, especially in the works of L. S. Vigotski. The general objective is to explore the relation between pedagogical practices and the development of memory mediated by children in Early Childhood Education. The specific objectives are: (I) to investigate children's conceptions about memory and (II) to compare the conceptions about memory elaborated by children who study pedagogical practices to learn to use the signals to mediate memory (AGIII-A) with conceptions on the memory elaborated by children who do not practice this practice (AGIII-B). To achieve this, the following procedures will be performed: (I) use of an activity schedule being used by children in the Early Childhood Education Group AGIII-A built with signs as memory mediators and (II) interviews with children from AGIII-A and Group AGIII-B. The age range of children is 4 to 6 years. The interviews will be individually and recorded. It will be analyzed: (I) conceptions of memory developed by children; (II) evidence of differences in conceptions between the AGIII-A group and the AGIII-B group and (III) the presence of elements in the conceptions about children's memory that may be related to aspects made possible by the use of the activities agenda. It is hoped that the results will allow to deepen the knowledge about the development of mediated memory and about the contributions of pedagogical practices in this process.
