Abstract

Organic materials have À electrons in their structure, in such a way that they present high optical nonlinearities, an important characteristic for the development of Photonic devices. In this project, we will study the linear and nonlinear optical properties of this type of material, in particular perylene derivatives. Initially, basic concepts of linear and nonlinear optics will be studied, as well as experimental methods, with emphasis to the Z-scan technique and fluorescence excited by multiphotonic absorption, both with ultrashort pulses, which will be used to study the perilene derivatives.
