Abstract

The research project intends to contribute to the investigation of production and circulation of information in the Brazilian territory based on the study of large consulting companies. To this end, the research focuses on the investigation of the global company McKinsey & Company. We seek to understand the role of its chain of offices in the country and the meaning of the information produced and disseminated by them. McKinsey & Company consists of one of the largest consultancy companies in the world and has an important participation in the productive restructuring process of companies, as well as in the planning and privatization processes in Brazil, such as the telecommunications system, since the 1990s, and important federal airports, since the 2000s. The company has also operated in Brazilian urban planning, based on the preparation of Strategic Plans for some cities in the country. Therefore, this research intends to analyze the development and implications of the informational networks present in the territory and its power to articulate the urban network. It also seeks to understand the dissemination of information from some places in the Concentrated Region, especially in the city of São Paulo.
