Abstract

Hirschsprung's disease (HD) is a congenitalmalformation of the enteric nervous system that is clinically expressed by intestinal obstruction in the neonatal period or severe intestinal constipation in childhood. There is still an intense debate in the literature regarding the diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of HD. On the other hand, the complexity of conducting clinical intervention studies, randomized and controlled, in children with congenital malformations considered rare, such as HD, makes it difficult to obtain evidence-based conducts. In view of this, an alternative that has been used in some countries to guide the management of HD is conducting surveys of opinion among specialists. However, in Brazil and Latin America, there are still no published studies that have done this survey. Therefore, the aim of this study is to know the management of DH in Brazil, by conducting a survey with pediatric surgeons working in the country, in different states. Thus, it will be possible to compare this practice between different regions of Brazil and in relation to other countries, which may contribute to the establishment of future guidelines at the national level.
