Abstract

Rheumatic diseases (RD) are chronic conditions accompanied by substantial physical, psychological, and functional disabilities. In Brazil, RD represent a huge burden to society and the public primary care system. Currently, treatment for RD is based on pharmacological, non-pharmacological approaches, or a combination of both. However, patients still have low adherence to treatment. Mobile health apps (mHealth), allow people with RD to do or self-manage their health, taking a more active role in decisions related to their health. However, most applications developed for the treatment of RD did not involve patients or health care providers in their development phase. Therefore, a significant permanent interest in the development and evaluation of the effectiveness of mHealth applications for RD by physicians, researchers, and patients affected by the disease. Objective: to systematically evaluate the availability of health apps for patients with RD in Brazilian online stores and to evaluate the apps with respect to engagement, user interface, experience, and quality of information. Methods: A systematic review was carried out of all mobile applications that were developed or designed between 2018-2020 available on the AppStore and Google Play do Brasil, referring to a RD. Data analysis: The information and descriptions of the applications will be added to a spreadsheet in Excel and the evaluation of the quality of the applications will be made using the rating scale of the mobile application.
