Abstract

With the increase in demand for ethanol and the production of high added value chemicals, the use of lignocellulosic biomass for these purposes has been widely studied. The degradation of this biomass is a process that requires a cocktail of enzymes, called holocellulases, which act cooperatively. The filamentous fungus Trichoderma reesei has a high capacity to produce and secrete holocellases. The industrial potential of cellulases led to the search for a decrease in their production costs. However, the molecular mechanisms from the recognition of substrate, nutrients and environment to the secretion of these enzymes are not yet elucidated in this fungus. As part of this process, this project has as main objective to contribute to the understanding of nutrient sensing via cell receptors with CFEM domain related to the process of deconstruction of lignocellulosic biomass in T. reesei.
