Abstract

The project seeks to analyze the interiorization of domination in the colonial context in light of Frantz Fanon's thought. In his works, especially on The Wretched of the Earth, Fanon presents the issue of colonial violence beyond physical limits, analyzing them mainly on a psychosocial basis. For the author, the environment, society, politics, the dominating agent would be essential objects in the formation of being, of his perceptions about himself and about the world around him. In this sense, the colonial scenario provoked a kind of social psychopathology, and only an event in the proportions of colonial violence would be capable of freeing the oppressive bonds that imprisoned the body and mind of the natives, this episode would be the revolution, for Fanon the only viable means for the genesis of a new humanism that would embrace beyond European roots, which, however, still translate into the guideline of the world imaginary. Thus Fanon's revolutionary observations allow a decolonial analysis in order to understand how much of this colonial pathology persists today. (AU)
