Abstract

The research aims to analyze the enterprise called "Colônia Agropecuária do Menino (CADM)", a private colonization project that took place in Minas Gerais in the decade of 1950, through imagery in the press of the time. We aim to analyze this undertaking as a result of what was consecrated as the "March to the West" process carried out by the Vargas Government. We aim to expose how this enterprise is linked to a dispute between the ruling classes of the time regarding the concept of land reform since the enterprise represents a clear questioning of the latifundium. Finally, the research aims to understand the motivations behind an undertaking that had as one of its objectives the implementation of a private agrarian reform proposal. (AU)
