Abstract

The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of different glaze firing protocols on the fracture toughness and crack healing mechanism on ceramic CAD/CAM blocks (E.max CAD, IPS Empress CAD, and Cerec Blocs). For the fracture toughness test, 120 specimens will be obtained, 40 for each CAD / CAM block, divided into 5 groups: Control (C), Conventional Glaze (G), Conventional Glaze with double firing (G2), Extended Glaze (EG) and Extended Glaze with double firing (EG2). The fracture resistance test will be carried out with the three-point bend test with a notch performed on the specimens, while crack healing will be qualitatively observed using scanning electron microscopy. The results obtained in each of the tests will be submitted to descriptive statistical analysis as well as the homogeneity and homoscedasticity tests. Depending on the results of such tests, appropriate statistical treatments will be applied. (AU)
