Abstract

Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) is the most common drug-resistant epileptic syndrome. In these drug-resistant cases, the hippocampus is the most frequent region of seizure start, and often presents several degrees of neuron loss, characterizing hippocampal sclerosis (HS) classes. TLE patients also have a high frequency of psychiatric comorbidities, such as depression and interictal psychosis. Despite several studies pointing out differential protein levels between TLE cases with and without comorbidities, there is no data regarding differences in HS types. We aim to evaluate, in TLE patients with HS, the frequency of depression and interictal psychosis. (AU)
