Abstract

The heart is responsible for supporting the circulation of several products such as hormones and nutrients that are essential for the organism maintenance. Numerous heart diseases compromise its functionality and in most severe cases organ transplantation is the only therapeutic alternative. However there are various obstacles in this path such as limited numbers of donors and incompatibility organ-pacient. Several techniques involving bioengineering and biotechnology are under development to solve those problems including organ decellularization and their recellularization and 3D bioprinting. Nevertheless the lack of recelullarization protocols and the incapacity to create mature cardiomiocyte in vitro represents a barrier to bioengineering development. This project aims to analyze the effect of the drug Etoposide in cardiomyocytes derived from hiPSCs, intending to assess the relation between cell stress and development of mature cells. The level of cell maturation will be evaluated by PCRq and cytometry. (AU)
