Abstract

In this project it is proposed the study of improved numerical methods to simulate non-Newtonian flows. Despite recent advances in the computational rheology community, several numerical methods still deal with instability issues such as accuracy on solving constitutiveequations in complex geometries. The proposed project aims new hybrid approaches that combine asymptotic analysis, Lagrangean formulations, stabilization methods and interpolation that are disconnected from Eulerian grid nodes. Additionally, it is also proposed a study concerningnew constitutive equations to model non-Newtonian materials which nature is elastic, plastic and viscous. (AU)
