Abstract

This project for a Scholarship for Research Internship Abroad seeks to investigate the processes of circulation of ideas in the field of social housing between São Paulo and France in the transition from the 19th to the 20th century, involving discussions about sanitation costs, techniques and ideas regarding large-scale housing production, and how such issues reverberated in the analyzes of São Paulo's urban professionals, such as Victor Freire, José de Sá Rocha and Arthur Saboya. The research seeks, based on transnational perspective, to analyze the formation of these agents and the technical and sanitary literature of the time, as well as the experiences drawn up in other cities such as the Frenches, in order to understand how urban codes and manuals and their writings dialogued among themselves. Research in French libraries, archives and museums becomes essential to understand these objectives, which will allow to expand the scope of sources and bibliographies on social housing. Our expectation is that with this material and the dialogues with professor and architect Angelo Bertoni from Aix-Marseille University, discussions about Transnational History and the phenomenon of the circulation of ideas about social housing will be deepened.
