Abstract

Until the end of the 20th century, the analysis of the food chain was focused on the study of production and distribution systems. However, it has become impossible to ignore the relationship between food and mode of consumption after the technological revolution and the popularization of social media. Today, consumer attention has become a crucial factor in defining each one's diet. In this context, the image has become an important tool for decision-making in food-related fields. This project, within the context presented, seeks analysis, through the digital platforms Instagram and Facebook, two gastronomic profiles popular among Brazilians: @tastemadebr and @tudogostosooficial. Methodologically, the research intends to carry out: a collection of data extracted from the profile feeds, such as the number of followers and likes; connect with professionals dedicated to the production of these images; audience analysis and interaction of followers with the profiles; and study of the visual syntax of the images of greater and lesser engagement. As a result, it is expected to obtain data to understand the factors linked to graphic design that contribute to the success in digital communication for the food segment. The research project integrates the activities of the Research Laboratory in Visual Design of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo, under the coordination of Profa.
