Abstract

The present study aims to radiographically evaluate the effectiveness of interfragmentary compression in femurs of cats (ex-vivo) with the use of interlocking nail associated with an interfragmentary compression device (patent BR 10 2018 016021 4) by means of minimally invasive osteosynthesis (MINO ). For this purpose, cadavers of adult cats (n = 16) will be used, of which one specimen (n = 1) will be directed to the "pilot" test, while the rest (n = 15) will be directed to the definitive tests. All cadavers (right and left femurs) will be evaluated by means of radiographic images, as a way to identify anatomical changes that can be excluded and to measure the femoral anatomical axis, proximal and distal lateral anatomical angles and the anteversion angle, bilaterally, prior to the surgical procedure. The animals will be randomly selected in three groups, with 5 specimens each (10 femurs per group) and submitted to transverse osteotomies (access through the medial aspect of the thigh): G1-DP (osteotomy in the proximal femoral diaphysis of both femurs); G2-DM (middle femoral diaphyseal osteotomy) and G3-DD (distal femoral osteotomy). Continuous, the 30 femurs will be radiographed again. After previous surgical planning, the locked intramedullary nail with a stable angle (HIB-AE) associated with Device 3 (BR 10 2018 016021 4) will be allocated to the femur by the MINO technique (minimally invasive nail osteosynthesis) and interfragmentary compression will be performed, along with the implant locks. After implantation in all feline cadavers (n = 30 femurs), new radiographs will be taken to assess bone apposition, the effectiveness of interfragmentary compression, the alignment achieved, the placement of the implants placed and to statistically compare the final results of the anatomical and of the angles obtained, compared to the radiographs prior to implantation of the nails.
