Abstract

In the present project we propose the study of Weyl semimetals and topological superconductors in the presence of quantum impurities. To do so we consider a system composed by a Weyl semimetal with multiple nodes, the so-called multi-Weyl semimetal, coupled to magnetic impurities via a Kondo-type Hamiltonian. Moreover, we will analyze how the presence of quantum impurities affects systems with topological superconductivity. For the study of the physical properties we will use both numerical and analytic techniques. The techniques utilized will be the mean field theory in the large-$N$ limit and the Dynamic Mean Field Theory (DMFT). The goal of the project is to clarify fundamental phenomena in topological systems in the presence of magnetic impurities. (AU)
