Abstract

The present project proposes to [1] formulate and apply the canine version of Baron Cohen's "Reading the Mind in the Eyes" test, which we have titled "Reading Emotions in Dogs' Eyes"; [2] analyze whether humans are able to successfully recognize emotions only from dogs' eyes, from photos of canine models previously used in Tina Bloom studies, and [3] compare the performance of adults in recognizing emotions derived from dogs' and humans' eyes (Baron Cohen's test). The sample will consist of adults from the general non-clinical population (N=70). Half of the pictures (9) will be presented with two response alternatives and a half (9), with four. For the human test, we will use part of Baron Cohen's stimulus material, chosen randomly, and half of the pictures (9) will be presented with two alternatives, and a half (9) with four. (AU)
