Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients have a high prevalence of cardiovascular diseases, it is the major cause of death in this population. A predictor of mortality for this population is to assess the autonomic imbalance in these individuals, which in turn can be minimized by adopting a physical exercise protocol prescribed specifically for CKD. Objective: Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions by physical exercise in the heart rate variability of patients with renal disease undergoing hemodialysis, if feasible, also to compare different exercise modalities. Methods: Systematic review with meta-analysis comparing studies with groups that underwent physical exercise intervention. Two independent reviewers will select the studies to be eligible, being consulted the MEDLINE, EMBASE, The Cochrane Library, LILACS, SciELO, and PEDro databases, covering from their first records until the moment of consultation. The works found will be compiled in the software ©EndNote (Thomson Reuters) for the removal of duplicates and selection analysis. Randomized clinical trials with chronic kidney disease participants will be included being that at least one of the groups performed an intervention of physical exercise so that the outcome evaluated is heart rate variability for all groups. To analyze the summary measures (95% confidence intervals will be adopted) as well as heterogeneity, the RevMan statistical software (Cochrane Collaboration's Review Manager) version 5.4.1. will be used. The risk of bias will be inferred through the GRADE tool and scale PEDro. (AU)
