Abstract

Insects are one of the most abundant organisms on Earth, and they play fundamental roles in community dynamics and ecosystem evolution. Studying plant-insect interactions have provided valuable information into ecological and evolutionary systems, highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary research. Recent studies have shown that the insect immune response and its microbiome have been influenced by plant chemical content, especially by the variation in plant secondary metabolites. Most of these studies focused on the evaluation of single or few plant metabolites, lacking studies that analyze the whole plant metabolome. In this research project, we aim to perform insect immune assays and microbial analyses, along with LC-MS analyses-based metabolomics of plant species and insects. Thus, we intend to unravel plant-insect-microorganism interactions in a more comprehensive and integrative context, aiming to add new insights into the interaction between organisms. (AU)
