Abstract

This research project aims to introduce the student to the techniques and fundamental concepts of High Energy Physics. At the end of this project, the student should be able to use event generators to simulate the production of New Physics signals in reactions involving particle accelerators, particularly in the CERN LHC collider. These reactions should be simulated using event generators such as Pythia and MadGraph and later analyzed using the ROOT framework. Due to the introductory character of the study, the proposal is to have a common program for the students, only with a different choice of new physics model. (AU)
