Abstract

This research project is dedicated to the investigation of spatial and corporal practices from the perspective of gender, race, and class markers. To this end, this study will be developed through the comparative analysis of two literary works: 'Quarto de despejo: diário de uma favelada', by Carolina Maria de Jesus; and 'Laços de Família', by Clarice Lispector; - both published in 1960. This choice is made based on the premise that the diverse social groups to which each of the authors belong also reflects in different urban experiences, which allows a more accurate analysis and brings intersectionality as an essential element. Therefore, it is intended to identify the permanences and ruptures of the paths in the urban and domestic environments during the process of modernization and industrialization of Brazilian cities, tracing a comparative analysis of the female representations that involve the chosen works. It is understood that the city and the home both materialize social disputes and impose boundaries and identity dynamics that orientate the displacement of bodies. The identification of the hierarchical character that these displacements manifest allows the review of the architectural and urbanistic field and its flaws in order to overcome them, using a new theoretical-methodological tool - literature - that allows tensioning the disciplinary canons and professional practices.
