Abstract

The project contemplates a proposal to be developed in the University of Napoli Federico II by using geotechnologies that were previously applied during the term of scholar-ship linked to this proposal. Alongside the development of geomorphological studies and the creation of new analysis techniques and tools, distinct approaches were proposed. Therefore, there is an emergence related to broadening the concept of geotechnologies, thus advancing in its usage, aiming the frequent advancement of techniques that can be successfully appropriated to develop environmental studies in general, deconstructing the perspective of GIS environment as the only option, presenting a wider range of possibilities. As an example, it is possible to cite Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL), Group Penetrating Radar (GPR), modeling from fractal dimensions, among others. Thus, the internship project abroad aims to incorporate innovative techniques in the Ph.D. thesis to expand natural systems comprehension by comparing different areas of the globe. This represents not only an advance in geomorphological studies but also achieving successful conclusions to doctoral research. In addition, the possibility to analyze the port of Napoli (built during the Greek-Roman Period) and compare it with the port of Açú (built in 2010) will foment information to understand the impacts generated in the region during the last 2500 years, when it was built, and mod-el forecasts with the port of Açú. Even though these ports are located in distinct morphoclimatic regions, the long operating time of the Naples structure might elucidate some possible consequences predictable for the coastal plain of Paraíba do Sul River.
