Abstract

The breast tumor is a frequent condition in dogs, and is a more common neoplasm in dogs, has been widely studied, mainly because it has the possibility of being used as a model for breast cancer in women, in the context of comparative oncology. The venom of the snake Crotalus der issues terrific presents a mixture of peptides, enzymes, and proteins such as Crotoxin capable of inducing the apoptosis of several cell types, such as tumor cells, thus, the possibility of its use in the manufacture of new drugs of anti-neoplastic use. The objective of this work is to test the antitumor potential of the treatment of bitch mammary carcinoma cells cultured in vitro with crotoxin. Canine breast carcinoma cell cultures will be used to evaluate an action of Doxorubicin (standard treatment) associated or not with crotoxin therapy in three cell cultures previously characterized by the research group. To assess the predictive potential of crotoxin, cell proliferation and migration tests will be performed, in addition to the Invasion Potential of the cell by the Transwell Test. (AU)
