Abstract

This research project aims to carry out the molecular characterization of Cryptosporidium spp. in donkeys and mules. A total of 100 fecal samples will be collected and examined using the negative coloring of the malachite green staining technique so that the oocysts of the parasite can be detected. Subsequently, all samples will be subjected to DNA extraction with subsequent molecular characterization by polymerase chain reaction for amplification of fragments of the 18S subunit of the rRNA and sequencing of the amplified fragments, followed by a subtype using the gp60 gene. The results will be analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential analysis (Fisher's Exact Test) to verify the association between the presence and absence of the protozoan with each of the studied variables.
