Abstract

Fall prevention strategies in the older population are a public health issue. In Brazil, the challenges of implementing evidence-based knowledge into clinical practice, building capacity in the healthcare workforce, will be substantial in the short term. This project will provide a better understanding of the different determinants that involve knowledge translation in low-resources settings. Aim: To identify factors related to the implementation of evidence-based fall prevention strategies into routine clinical practice in fall prevention in a context of low-resources settings. Methods: We will conduct two studies using the Theoretical Domains Framework. Study #1 Scoping review: using the Joanna Brigs Institute (JBI) methodology for conducting scoping reviews, mapping the existing literature on barriers and facilitators for implementing evidence-based fall prevention strategies in low-resources settings; Study #2 Audit survey: a cross-sectional study, using an online questionnaire developed on the SurveyMonkey® platform, investigating the current professional practices, barriers and facilitators of Brazilian physiotherapists regarding falls prevention; Expected impact: Our results will be important in two main aspects: 1. Advancing the scientific comprehension of the determinants mapped into the domains capacity, motivation, and opportunity for implementing fall prevention strategies into clinical practice in a context of low-resources settings; 2. developing implementation strategies for fall prevention in Brazil
