Abstract

The problem of the determination of the motivating factors that led Kant to his critical turn of 1769-70 is a historical one. At least elf theses have been defended on it until now. Our aim is to develop and deepen a suggestion of one of these theses, namely, Klaus Reich's thesis, that claims that the mind-body problem was one of these factors. We will do this by analyzing a selection of Kants pre-critical texts until the Dissertation of 1770, showing how this problem appears, its importance, development and resolution. (AU)
