This research aims to investigate the development of two concepts in Kantian philosophy, from the pre-critical period to the Critique of pure reason: method and metaphysics. For this, the project starts from the texts of the pre-critical period in which Kant, directly or indirectly, deals with such concepts, seeking to examine them in connection with the specific objectives of each text. Method is understood as the way of proceeding in a certain science, which determines the specific rules that such knowledge must follow. The mere imitation of the mathematical method in metaphysics did not provide the expected guarantees for this discipline to become a certain and safe science, and for this reason Kant had to develop, within philosophy, a study specifying it's method. Traditional metaphysics, as a rational and pure science, systematized by Wolff and Baumgarten, is not consistent with Kant's investigations of the method. The meaning of metaphysics, therefore, becomes different in this new methodological comprehension introduced by Kant. To fulfill the purpose of the project, we seek to address the relationship between method and metaphysics throughout the texts of the pre-critical period, aiming to reach the Critique of Pure Reason. Through the analysis of the texts, we hope to establish some conditions for the realization of Kantian critical philosophy. (AU)
