Abstract

Prostate cancer (PC) is a common neoplasm in humans and has a similarity in clinical presentation and pathological anatomy in dogs, although, in these, it is less frequent. The dog is considered a good natural model for the study in comparative oncology and has been used for research in CP. Studies on the use of green tea in the treatment of cancer patients have been carried out since it has anticarcinogenic properties, with the gatalo-3-epigalocatechin (EGCG) being the compound present in the tea with the highest response by inducing apoptosis and inhibiting enzymes of androgenic conversion and gallate3-epicatechin (ECG) the compound with the greatest suppression of proliferation of the studied CP strains. Thus, the aim of this study is to test the antitumor response of the ECGC compound and the ECG, in isolation and in combination, in vitro treatment in primary cell cultures of prostatic adenocarcinoma in dogs. Canine prostatic carcinoma cell cultures will be used for the evaluation of natural products EGCG and ECG, in association or not with the conventional treatment of Doxorubicin, in three cell cultures, previously characterized by the research group. To assess the predictive potential of natural compounds, tests for cell proliferation and migration will be carried out. (AU)
