Abstract

In this project, we will conduct a critical diachronic study and a commented translation to Portuguese of Thomas Youngs two of his three first writtings on optics published in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. We will follow current standards of the historiography of science, by considering the state of optical studies in the period, while the commented translation will follow guidelines from theoretical references in translation studies. It will be the first time that Youngs first writings will be translated into Portuguese. The results of this project will complement the production of a previous research project, focused on the commented translation of Young Observations on Vision, his first paper published in Philosophical Transactions.(AU)
