Abstract

The aim of this proposal is to evaluate the effects of early weaning (150 days vs. 240 days) of offspring from pregnant beef cows in fetal programming and in the performance of the next progeny. The specific objectives are 1) evaluate the effects of nutritional plans resulting from distinct lactation periods during the gestational period in the characteristics productive during the brooding, rearing, and finishing phases in confinement; 2) evaluate the characteristics of carcasses of steers subjected to these two different maternal conditions during the fetal period.(AU)
