Abstract

Focused on better understand the formation and early stages of evolution of young stars, especially those with active chromospheric activity, we propose, in continuation of the project that has been developed by Dr. Santos-Silva in her postdoctoral contract, an internship of 9 months at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen - Germany, in order to better learn the techniques used by Prof. Beate Stelzer and her research group, to study optical light curves from TESS. For this, we will investigate the variability of magnetically active stars, members of the well-known Lupus association (~160 pc), formed by different regions of star formation at different evolutionary stages. From the light curves, we intend to obtain relevant information such as the energy and duration of flares, rates of accretion and rotation of star and disk, that will help us better understand the physical mechanisms behind these phenomena in young stars. These results also will be used to confirm the methodology already developed by us to find magnetically active stars, as well as, will be employed as observational links for theoretical studies of dominant physical processes in these objects developed by our research group, improving and making them more realistic. In addition to this project, the methodology to be learned in Tübingen is expected to also be applied to other young stellar associations expected in the Galactic Survey from S-PLUS collaboration as CMa OB1, studied by Dr. Santos-Silva, in order to better understand their magnetically active star populations.
