Abstract

The research internship abroad aims especially to update and improve the database used for the thesis "Observância Franciscana e estratégia de santidade: os manuscritos da Franceschina de Giacomo Oddi e seu projeto sócio-político (séc. XV)", and which is fed by the transcription and edition of texts, digitization of manuscripts and photographs of images of the time. The Specchio dell'Ordine Minore, also known as the Franceschina, was a Franciscan and Observant hagiographic compendium found in three manuscripts of the late 15th century, of Umbrian origin, characterized by extensive use of narrative images and by the vulgarisation and rewriting of important Franciscan sources. This research's objective is to investigate the intellectual and iconographic tradition to which the manuscripts are connected and the social and political usage of this work as a tool of power struggle and affirmation of the Franciscan observance. The database is the main tool used in the thesis, its processed data will be discussed in all chapters and the source catalog will be made available as an appendix to the thesis. Fieldwork conducted in archives, libraries and memory spaces is an essential step in the making of the thesis. I consider the research internship abroad as a good opportunity for internationalizing the research and implementing the thesis' project, in addition to the discussion of data with both supervisors, participation in classes and congresses and my period abroad during the split-site PhD.
