Abstract

In this project, the extraction process of propolis from the stingless bee Tetragonisca angustula (Jataí) will be improved, several different solvents will be tested, and the optimized extracts will be characterised by physicochemical techniques as thermal analysis and chromatography. Photophysical characterization of obtained propolis extracts, as well as its coumarins, curcumins, and flavonoids, under different conditions, will be performed through the electronic and vibrational absorbance. The different states of aggregation, and charge interactions will be studied by modelling. The fully characterised propolis will be used, in the future, for the development of controlled release systems of their bioactive constituents. (AU)
