Abstract

Since the beginning of the development of the Trieb as a psychoanalytical concept there is an internal necessity in the theory to the sustenance of a dualism in regards to the classification of the drives. This dualism initially takes place between the so called sexual drives and the self-conservative drives. In his first conception, the drive is understanding as a stimulus (Reiz) that, coming from the body, his source (Quelle), will generate a pression, or ímpetus (Drang), who aim to satisfaction (Befriedigung), through the cancellation of the state of stimulation. It will be configured, since that, the entrance of the drive in the psychic field through a representative (Repräsentant) of the drive, in the form of affection (Affekt) and representation (Vorstellung). Conceive this movement of drive circulation became more complex in 1920 if we consider that in this moment of the construction of psychoanalytical discourse we have the introduction of one drive without representation, in other words, without that element who configures the entrance of the drive in the psychic field: the death drive (Todestrieb). If we assume, provided of the Freudian text, that is for the necessity of the circulation of the drives that the psychic apparatus has origin, and that the representation is a privileged moment in this circulation, the introduction of one drive who defines itself by the absence of that element, one fruitful field of investigation is opened. Taking into account that in the second drive dualism the ultimate goal of the drive is his total cancellation as a state of stimulation and that the psychic instance called Ego emerge belatedly and in intimate relationship with the necessity of the circulation of the drive and of the establishment of a representational field in the psyche, we propose a investigation in regards to the constitution of the Ego in light of the second Freudian theory of the drives, starting, first, from a preliminary investigation of the passage of the first to the second dualism.
