Abstract

The pollen morphology of 20 species of Asteraceae native in remnant forest fragments from the Northwest region of the State of São Paulo will be studied. The objective of the study is to the morphological characterization of the species, researching pollen data that can help in its taxonomy of Asteraceae, provide subsidies for the maintenance of native species, and conserve the biodiversity of these environments. The pollen material will be obtained from the herbaria, the pollen grains will be catalyzed, measured, described, and photographed under light microscopy, and when necessary, photographs will be taken under scanning electron microscopy in order to observe the ornamentation of the exine. Qualitative data will be described for the possible establishment of pollen types, while quantitative data will receive statistical treatment appropriate to the size of the samples and will be submitted to multivariate analysis.(AU)
