Abstract

This project is focused on understanding how environmental mechanisms rule galaxy evolution, especially for central galaxies. We will use the observations from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) combined with galaxy classification from the Yang Catalog to investigate how central galaxy properties depend on different parameters, such as: host halo mass, stellar mass, number of satellite galaxies, and AGN activity. This analysis will be based on the statistical basis provided by the SDSS. We will derive galaxy property estimates from spectral fitting and line measurements. The morphology will be measured using the non-parametric code CyMorph. This enables investigating not only the galaxy properties, but also its relation with its shape. In particular, we will use the extremely detailed spectroscopic view provided by the MaNGA survey to explore the interplay between AGN feedback and environmental quenching mechanisms, despite using a smaller sample due to the survey limitations.
