Abstract

During the 13th century, the Catholic Church underwent a process of pastoral reformulation whose purpose was to promote the rudiments of the Christian faith and a greater ecclesiastical insertion in the daily life of society. To achieve this goal, several treaties were drawn up to instruct clerics in carrying out their duties. Among these works, the pamphlet De Seta Machometi stands out, prepared by the Catalan Dominican Ramón Martí in the 1250s, whose work denounces Islamic practices and defends the superiority of Catholic doctrine. Based on a document like this, the objective of the internship abroad is to analyze how this work fits into a context of reformulation of pastoral activity, of intensifying apologetic debates and of greater attention to the training of clergy. In other words, the investigation that will be carried out in partnership with the Université de Fribourg is intended to gather the materials that allow the preparation of the first chapter of the course conclusion work regarding the context of preaching in the Iberian Peninsula during the 13th century. In addition, the two-month internship period in Switzerland will not only facilitate the bibliographical survey for the production of the final product of the Scientific Investigation, but will also strengthen the bonds between the Young Researcher "The Teaching of the Christian Faith in the Iberian Peninsula (14th/16th century)" and the said Swiss university.
