Abstract

Heart diseases are those that exclusively affect the heart and have high rates of morbidity and mortality, recognizing that psychological functioning acts as a risk factor for these pathologies. They affect all age groups and can cause significant losses in quality of life, especially for individuals of working age. This project aims to examine indicators of the psychological dynamics and personality characteristics of adult cardiac patients aged 30 to 59 years, hospitalized for Acute Coronary Syndrome, given a considerable increase in their clinical incidence in this age group. Volunteers of both sexes, with varied education, from the interior of the State of São Paulo will be examined, comprising two groups: Clinical Group (G1, 100 patients diagnosed with Acute Coronary Syndrome admitted to a reference Emergency Unit) and Comparison Group (G2, 100 individuals from the community without heart disease). They will be individually assessed by the following instruments: Sociodemographic and clinical questionnaire, Patient Health Questionnaire PHQ-9, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Cardiac Anxiety Questionnaire, Personality Scale DS14, Projective Brazilian Test of Reaction to Frustration, Desiderative Questionnaire, Test of Zulliger and Pfister's Colored Pyramids Test. The materials will be applied and evaluated according to the respective technical manuals, systematizing the data in computer spreadsheets for further statistical analysis, aiming at describing and comparing the groups in the variables representative of psychological functioning and sociodemographic characteristics. It is expected to expand the understanding of the psychological indicators and personality characteristics associated with Acute Coronary Syndrome in adults in the age group considered productive and the increase in its incidence today, seeking to identify risk factors to be addressed in future prophylactic strategies in the population.
