Abstract

The objective of this proposal is to explore comparative dimensions that place the case of the west of São Paulo in the scenario of other countries that also received expressive international migratory flows, in particular Argentina.In fact, the Argentine regions of the so-called "humid pampa" and "central pampa", polarized by Buenos Aires/Rosario, seem to be the best comparative benchmark for the case of São Paulo in Latin America. This does not prevent us, alternatively, from also exploring other comparative references, depending on the ethnic group in question. The project will be developed seeking to verify hypotheses that concern, in both cases: a) to receiving societies and to migratory and agrarian policies developed; b) incorporation to the numerically more significant ethnic groups; c) to other groups whose comparison is more unbalanced.
