Abstract

Among marine invertebrates, marine sponges stand out as the most metabolically diverse invertebrates. Many of the secondary metabolites isolated from marine sponges have powerful biological activities, such as halichondrins, geodiamolides, hemiasterlins, mannoalide, among many others. Therefore, marine sponges have been continuously explored as a source of bioactive secondary metabolites. The objective of this project is to carry out the selection and prioritization of bioactive and chemically distinct fractions from seven sponge species collected on the south coast of Bahia, for the subsequent isolation and identification of bioactive compounds present in the sponge species. Pre-fractioned extracts of the seven species of marine sponges will be obtained. The pre-fractionated extracts will be analyzed by HPLC-UV-MS and by UPLC-MS/MS, in order to collect HRMS and MS/MS data from the obtained fractions, which will allow the construction of molecular networks for analysis using GNPS/molecular networking. The same fractions will be analyzed in bioassays of cytotoxic, antimicrobial and antiparasitic activity, to evaluate the respective biological activities and correlate with dereplication data by molecular networking. The final objective is to prepare a mini-database with the results obtained, in order to generate information that will be later used for prioritizing the investigation of selected fractions, aiming at the isolation, purification, identification of bioactive metabolites from the results obtained from the screening performed.(AU)
