Abstract

Among the challenges of global public health are sexually transmitted infections as a triggering factor of several pathologies of a genotoxic nature. The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is currently one of the main etiological agents of diseases associated with the female genital tract, with the possibility of developing lesions that can be malignant. With the advancement of research on the subject, the association of HPV with head and neck cancer was discovered, especially in young people up to 35 years of age. Knowing that viral infections can lead to processes of genomic instability, it becomes interesting to track DNA lesions in cells of the upper aerodigestive tract for the analysis and tracking of genomic instability in the population. Therefore, the objective of the present study will be to analyze, through the micronucleus assay (MN), the DNA lesions present in the oral mucosa of a young population and to correlate these findings with the presence or absence of HPV (through the chain reaction of the polymerase) in the upper aerodigestive tract.(AU)
