Abstract

What could a psychoanalyst say to an artist about art? And what could an artist say to a psychoanalyst ? If the arts field is a way of finding expressions of the artist, as well as the public, unconscious content, and a way to understand cultural representation, the relation between psychoanalysis and art is a good field of investigation for both of them. Freud, during his theoretical, technical and methodological elaborations, tried to find in cultural productions the bases of his psychoanalytic theory. Art, as a cultural production, gave, in different periods of his work, the elements that supported his ideas, so that they could have been developed. The aim of this research is to verify and identify the relations between aggressiveness, the freudian concept of Death Drive and the performances "Rhythms" by Marina Abramovic, in order to approximate and generate reflexions about aggressiveness in performance arts and it's reflexions in culture.
