Abstract

Soil pollution by metals perform a major threat to terrestrial biodiversity and human health Temperature variations and thermal extremes caused by climate change can have significant implications for metal toxicity for terrestrial organisms. Due to conflicting results regarding the effects of global warming on metal pollution in soils and the need for advances in knowledge about the combined effects of pollutants and climate change on soil biodiversity, this project aimed to carry out the first systematic review with meta-analysis on the effects of metals and warming in isolation and combination on the biological responses of terrestrial invertebrates. First, a systematic review of peer-reviewed articles will be performed. Using a meta-analytic technique to the peer-reviewed literature, we will evaluate the impacts of warming and metal on the biological responses of terrestrial invertebrates. The results generated in this project will represent an important contribution to research related to the management of terrestrial ecosystems from the perspective of global warming. (AU)
