Analysis of clinical and epidemiological condition of SARS-CoV-2 reinfection cases in Botucatu-SP city

Abstract

The severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), caused by de the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), positive-stranded RNA viruses, has already caused, worldwide, more than 3,5 million deaths until July 2021. This disease is based on the infection of host cells through the fusion between cell and viral membranes, which occurs through the viral spike protein (S), which comes mutating and gives rise to new variants. The occurrence of these variants allowed new infections cases of illness in patients that had been affected by this disease in a period before the new diagnosis. Objective: track attendance of reinfection cases, define the prevalence variants in the Botucatu-SP population, in addiction analyzing the clinical and epidemiological condition of the population analyzed. Materials and Methods: samples and medical records analyzed will be originating from individuals treated at the Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina de Botucatu - UNESP, since February 2020, whose positive diagnosis has already been performed through molecular diagnosis (RT-qPCR). Furthermore, the virus complete genome sequencing that infected each of the analyzed individuals will be performed through sequencing by synthesis, using MiSeq (Illumina) platform. The obtained results will be analyzed by univariate and multivariate statistics.(AU)
