Abstract

Light-curing polymers have wide applications, for example, in dentistry, industries in general, and tissue engineering, and currently, this type of polymerization has gained prominence in the field of 3D printing. In the synthesis of this type of polymer, different materials can be used, and a major problem nowadays is the use of polymers of non-renewable origin, such as petroleum derivatives. Therefore, the use of polymers from renewable sources and preferably biodegradable has been a widely studied option to replace petroleum derivatives. Thus, an interesting alternative for the synthesis of polymers is the use of vegetable oils and their subsequent chemical modification so that they are subject to acrylation reactions, necessary for photopolymerization to occur. Therefore, this project proposes the synthesis of photopolymerizable polymers from chemically modified vegetable oils.(AU)
