Abstract

This project intends to comprehend and interpret how the family can operate as a binding element between neoconservatism and neoliberalism in contemporary Brazil, adopting as object of sociological investigation the textual productions about family contained in the online portals Gospel Prime and universal.org, sites of great public visibility among the heterogeneity of segments that constitute the evangelical group. Specifically, a documentary research will be conducted centered on the search, within the sites, for a frame of keywords that refer to the family institution so that, later, a typology of the family representation contained in each one of the sites can be developed. This frame of keywords, developed by browsing the websites and reading the book Casamento Blindado (Shielded Marriage), was organized into four sets, namely: a) family nucleus; b) family reproduction; c) family planning and d) affectivities. It will be investigated the publications posted between February 2018 and February 2021, totalizing a period of 36 months. To expand the results obtained with the documentary research, the use of focus groups will be used, so that five meetings will be held, via online platform, with people who follow, comment and share the news published by the portals. At the end of the research, it is expected to understand and interpret which possible connections of meaning exist between the respective representations of family apprehended from the sites and neoconservative and neoliberal values and principles.
