Abstract

Progesterone (P4) is a steroid hormone involved in the regulation of the estrous cycle and maintenance of pregnancy in females. Currently, the main and most reliable method for its quantification in studies is the radioimmunoassay (RIA). However, it has some disadvantages, such as exposure to radioactive materials and other implications for its use in Brazil. Therefore, the search and validation of alternative methods for the measurement of this hormone in cattle are of great value. The objective of this project is to validate a commercial chemiluminescent immunoassay (QL) protocol through comparisons with the current reference method, the RIA, and to carry out validation tests according to ANVISA and INMETRO guidelines, such as anticoagulant effect tests. and sample processing time, accuracy, and precision, among others.(AU)
