Abstract

The world values Survey is one of social sciences' largest international research projects. Using the survey technique, the project gathers important information about public opinion in different countries and societies. Ronald Inglehart, analyzing the collected data, stated that the values of a society influence its political behavior. In this paper, through the information collected in the last available round (2017-2021), we will analyze the impact of postmaterialist values - as conceptualized by Inglehart - on the legitimacy of the democratic regime in Brazil. We will look more specifically at how these values are distributed within different age groups and also between different regions. Thus, the focus of this research is on understanding the relationship between postmaterialist values and democracy in Brazil, emphasizing intergenerational and interregional differences or similarities.(AU)
