Abstract

In this research, we seek to analyze the meanings of the representation of Mexican women in the photographs and photomontages of Lola Álvarez Bravo present in the collection of the Center for Creative Photography. This production will be analyzed historically, considering the debates that occurred in the cultural environment, such as issues related to miscegenation and indigenism, contained in public policies, in discourses on national identity and in Mexican imaginaries between the 1930s and 1950s. Also seek to understand the professional trajectory of this photographer, in view of the gender debates and the intersectionality of this analysis, within the sociability network in which she participated, her engagements and aesthetic dialogues with the Mexican visual culture of this period.
